Shufflin' On
We only had one event scheduled last week, which was our normal Monday Horsecollar Games. The weather was beautiful and we had a very large turnout. The scores were very high, with ten Shufflers scoring over 800. Winning the event was Bette Wray with a score of 971. Finishing second was Dave Buch at 927, barely beating out Glenn Tomlinson at 926. Coming in fourth was Carol Herrington at 921 Followed by John Herrington at 904, Tom Palmer at 873, Randy Richards at 851, Howard Fisher at 850 , Ed Gegnas at 846, Barry Wray at 846, and Paula Clayton at 827.
We were not sure if we should have played our Horsecollar Games on Labor Day but we decided to give it a shot. What a great decision that was. We had one of our largest turnouts of the season. The scores were not that great, but we had a great time. Pat James was high scorer with a 854, followed by Tom Palmer at 818, Dave Buch at 806 and Tony Bucca at 802.
Wednesday we held our Club and State meetings. The main discussions centered around sponsorship and dates of our events. We decided to have another meeting in October when we would have more info to finalize our program.
Friday we held our final tournament of the season , “The Autumn Draw Doubles”. It was a very nice day, even a little cool, but a great day to shuffle. It was a very long day but late in the afternoon the team of Carol Herrington and Bette Wray defeated Glenn Tomlinson and Barry Wray for the Championship. Glenn and Barry finished second ,followed by Ed Gegnas and Walt Peppelman, and Patti Zunino and Dave Buch.
We will continue to shuffle every Monday as long as the weather holds up. For a great time come out and join us, any Monday around 9:30.
See you at the courts,
Tom Palmer
